Awesome therapeutic parenting.

Standard

I’m currently enjoying being an awesome therapeutic parent.

As part of my upcoming assessment I need to fill in a number of scenarios of what I would do in certain situations. There were lots of problems like dealing with story-telling, addressing destructive behaviour and healing low self-esteem. I wish I could share my responses, but I’m trying to make sure I maintain anonymity and that includes from whoever reads my file.

Needless to say in all my scenarios I was calm, measured, appropriate and basically rocked the whole therapeutic parenting thing .

Now if only my kids will be considerate enough to give me written notice of all their behaviours, with an appropriate length of time to develop a response…

Oh well, this will probably be the only time I feel like a competent parent, let alone a competent therapeutic parent. I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts!

Classic Rookie Mistake…

Standard

I believed the timeline that the Department gave me.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, I really should know better. Rookie Mistake.

They have apparently now decided that instead of giving me the assessment (on my learning and knowledge) themselves they will contract it out. The woman from the company that does the assessment rang me to book it in, and it now won’t be happening until the second week of August. Which means that it’s unlikely to be all done and complete until the beginning of September. Boo 😦

Oh, and apparently the assessment will take between 5 and 7 HOURS!!!

FIVE to SEVEN HOURS!!!

I have no idea what they are going to talk about for that long, I’ll keep you in the loop!
